Panera Bread & Paradise Bakery & Cafe

We were introduced to Panera Bread a couple years ago and have enjoyed having lunch there.  Gerry joined their rewards program and has enjoyed the benefits of the card with free donuts and desserts.  They had a lot of benefits early on, but now that we are hooked, they have cut back on the  freebies.

We checked for a Panera Bread out here in Tucson and found out there aren't any in Arizona.  I got online and found out the Paradise Bakery & Cafe is a part of the Panera Bread company.  Paradise is so popular out here that Panera decided to leave the name alone rather than risk losing customers.  If you didn't see the name, you would believe that you were in a Panera Bread cafe.  The menu is the same and the interiors of the building are very close to being the same.

Now, this a relief for us since we can enjoy them out here in Tucson for the winter.  Today we had French onion soup and a ham & cheese sandwich for lunch.  They both were great and we enjoyed the meals very much.  We may even make it through the winter with the restaurant available.

Gerry went shopping at Michaels & JoAnn Fabrics for a couple hours and picked up some much needed supplies for her craft hobbies.  I took advantage of her shopping to make a phone call to my brother.  He was supposed to be on his way out here with a load, but had to cancel since he was feeling under the weather.  Hopefully he will make a trip after Thanksgiving and he can spend a couple days out here.

We are watching Tora Tora Tora on the tv and find it quite interesting.  I was on Ford Island in Hawaii when they filmed part of the movie in 1969.  It took them a long time to get it in production since it came out in 1970.  I didn't realize it was 160 minutes long or I wouldn't have started it so late.  Quite a movie.

  1. You'll have to show us or take us to this new Panera Bread place. Ron has been wanting to try and we both love french onion soup. In fact a cup of soup and split a sandwich is our idea of a perfect lunch.

  2. We've been to a Panera somewhere in our travels. Good to learn about Paradise in Tucson. Now all we have to do is find it on one of our many trips into town!
