Tiffin - Red Bay, AL Day 4

The prediction that we would be taken in for service today was optimistic to say the least.  We sat around the RV until 3:30pm with a heavy rainfall all day.  Sadly, they didn't call us in for service.  They finally called around 3:45pm to say we should be at Bay 9 at 6:50 AM for service on Monday morning.

6:50AM!

What an ungodly hour to be awake and be there.  That means getting up at 6::00 AM and bringing in the slides, leveling jacks, water, electric and sewer and still getting there that early.  I just hope the sun is up since I don't like to drive the RV in the dark.

It rained so hard that we couldn't even go geocaching without getting drenched in the downpour.  There were small lakes all over the parking and camping areas.  It was a good time to take it easy and get caught up on some minor tasks in the motorhome.   The weather foecast for Saturday & Sunday looks pretty good, so maybe we can pick up a few caches.  One bad thing about geocaching in the east with all the trees and grass is that you have to be aware of creepy crawlers and also ticks, poison ivy and other not so nice things.  Long pants will be the order of the day for us.

We checked around to see if we could find a nice restaurant in the area, but there are slim pickings in this neck of the woods  I guess the locals must not eat out that much and it is hard for a restaurant to survive.  We finally went to the same restaurant we went to a couple days ago and had an very forgetable meal.

After dinner we went for a ride to a small neighboring town in Mississippi since they had a restaurant there.  It looked like a nice place and we will try it in the next few days.  They may even serve beer or wine since I don't think it is a dry county.  They had a soft serve ice cream store there and it's the closest  we've found to a Dairy Queen out here.  It was pretty tasty and if we are here long enough, I am sure we will visit it again.

Belmont, Mississippi

On the way back to the RV we stopped and chatted with a couple from Virginia who are here for service also.  They are both retired and he was a Montgomery County, MD policeman and knew some friends of ours who were policemen there.  Then he mentioned he was a retired FBI agent and since I had worked there also, we had some mutual friends there as well.  His wife also worked at the FBI and was friends with a lady in Gerry's sorority.  It sure is a small world out there.  The couple bought their RV so they could take their eight small dogs to dog shows.

Our campsite neighbor also has four large dogs that are show dogs.  She just returned from a show in St. Louis, MO where her dogs placed very high, with one coming in second.  We run into a lot of RVers who have dogs in their RVs and also many who show the dogs.

That was our day, how was yours?
