Busy Saturday & Snowbirds

Our friends Linda and Sherwin will be spending the winter in Maine this year and she commented that it was down to 12 degrees last night at their place.  I haven't been in weather that cold for many years and I hope I don't have to endure temps like that ever again.  You guys have our sympathy and wish you were here.  Stay warm.

We spent a good part of the day working around the motor home installing a nice outside mat, a sewer line holder and a table that fits on the steering wheel.  I had to drive 8 inch nails into the rock hard ground to hold the mat down and that was the most difficult task.  The remaining tasks were easy but took some time; however, they were finished.  The sewer line holder is an iffy proposition since the sewer is higher than our drain pipe.  The motor home sits so low and the pipe extends out of the ground at least 6 inches.  Plus, we are parked on a slightly downward sloping site.

While our coach was in the shop yesterday we went to the grocery store and bought some steaks while they were on sale.  Since our refrigerator was unavailable, we relied on good friends, Ron and Dee C to store them for us until we could retrieve them.  After a short rest Gerry got on her bike and went to Ron and Dee's to pick up our steaks.  Her timing was pretty good as Dee had just finished baking some Oatmeal Raisin cookies.  Gerry was invited to stay and visit, have a cup of tea and cookies with them.  Dee didn't forget me and sent some cookies back with Gerry.  Thanks, Dee.

Cousin Sharon and Al called about going out to dinner at Montgomery's and I rarely pass on an opportunity to go there.  We had a nice meal and great service, plus the company was interesting.  We were 4 minutes late and Sharon admonished us, but I told her it was fashionable to be late.

It reminded me of the time in Costa Rica when an employee wanted to play Trivial Pursuit.  We set up a dinner party with them and 3 other couples.  Cocktails from 6-7pm, dinner at 7pm and then the game afterward.  The  honored couple hadn't shown up by 9 pm so I called and asked if they were ok.  Believe it or not they were offended that I would say something about being 3 hours late.  It's called Tico time and actual times are just something you shoot for, but never hit.   After that I specified if  it was Tico time or American time.  When it was to be American time, don't be late.

I heard on the news today that they were forecasting a warmer and drier winter for us in Tucson.  I have mixed emotions about this since they really need some rain out here and some cold nights to cut down on the bugs.  Not that there are that many bugs out here like we had in the Florida Keys in the winter.  I hate no see ums!!
