Cataract surgery & progress

Today was my turn for cataract surgery.  I had the right eye repaired in 2008 and now it was the left eye's turn.  We like our eye doctor, Dr. Robert Snyder very much and have been happy with the work he has done on us.  Today was no exception.  The staff at the clinic was very professional and friendly and make the wait and surgery much easier.

I know cataract surgery is no big deal now, but in the late 1980s it was entirely different.  Sonia, my secretary at that time. asked for time off so she could help her father with his cataract surgery.  He was in the hospital for over a week and then a long recuperative period after that.  He had to have neck braces to keep his head still and other tortures to endure.  All in all it took over 6 weeks for him to fully recover and be on his way.

I went in for surgery around 3:40 pm and walked out of the clinic a little after 4:30 pm.  I have a patch over my eye and Thursday morning have to go in for a post-op checkup and then put drops in my eyes for two weeks.  Assuming all goes well, I will get cleared and ready to go after those two weeks.  I sure hope so.  Now, if there are any typos in the posting, I blame it on the fact that I am typing with only one eye and ten fingers.

I used Turbo Tax and finalized our state and federal taxes and sent the fed taxes in via e-file and got the email stating the Feds have it on their computer.  Our refund will be direct deposited and I hope it all works.  I would like to say I am optimistic, but I am not.  Maryland taxes will be sent in via snail mail and the refund check mailed to us.  This is a big load off my mind.  I hate to do taxes even when we get refunds.

That was my day, how was yours?

  1. Looks like you took a picture and then drew a circle around your eye. You need a real pirate's patch

  2. Congrats on getting 'er done! So many improvements in surgeries these days, and we can attest to that! You ask how was our day? Tuesday was a day for a contentious board meeting, Wednesday was an executive board meeting to deal with a couple of special problems, today I get to write a letter and the meeting minutes, and tomorrow is a "Chat With the Board." And my phone battery is defective and must be replaced. And Suzy has now lost 67 pounds. That last sentence was the highlight of this week! Peel off that patch, drop in the drops, and go see wonderful things like cactus blooms!
