Fathers' Day

Early this morning I received an email from SIL Henry with his great breakfast that Barbara had prepared for him  Great is how Henry described it, but I'm not sure everyone would hold it in that high esteem.  It consisted of a diet coke, warmed up BBQ spareribs and scrambled eggs.  Judge for yourself if it would be high on your list of breakfast meals.

The family gathered at Larry and Jane's home for Fathers day and we all had a great time.  The only ones missing were Cassie, Jack & Lexa from Maryland and Taylor & Sean from North Carolina.  Taylor & Sean were celebrating their first wedding anniversary with a weekend getaway.  Cassie and I chatted on the phone for while and it was great hearing from her.  We are looking forward to seeing her and the family again.

When the whole family is around we play volleyball, but there weren't enough for teams so soccer and playing catch with the football was the order of the day.  Larry Jr's backyard is quite large and there was more than enough space to play the games.

Larry & Jane prepared the main meal and others brought chips, dip, vegetable tray and other goodies.  There wasn't any reason for anyone to go hungry with all the food around.  I am going to have to get out of here soon or I will gain 100 lbs.

Shawn & Stephanie came by also and spent some time with her father and us, but had to leave and spend some time with Shawn's father.  Having relatives nearby can be a help or hindrance with dividing time between families.  We ran into that early in our marriage when we went back to Illinois on vacation.  It all worked out and we managed to keep everyone relatively happy.

  1. Nice family. Hope you had a good Father's Day. When I get in the right frame of mind I've got some blogging to catch up on.
