Coffee, goecaching and chili

The old alarm clock went off too early today for me.  We had planned on going for coffee and donuts at the rec center and had to be there by 9am.  Ugh!  Too early for me, but we managed to get there on time and pay our two dollars for the lucky buck drawing.  We didn't win the drawing but Ron & Dee won the money and then to add insult to injury, they won the electric grill that was the door prize.  I think an investigation is now underway how that came about.

Judy, Steve and I went geocaching after the coffee and donuts, while Gerry went to her sewing club gathering.  We had a great time geocaching and went down some roads that were almost beyond the capabilities of our Saturn.  Almost!  We managed to find a number of caches and then it was time to meet Gerry for lunch.   We picked her up and went to a restaurant with a Hawaiian menu which turned out to be pretty good.  After lunch we went geocaching some more and wound up with  9 finds for the day.  Not bad considering the difficulties of most of the caches.

Later on in the evening we went over to Sharon and Al's 5th wheel for a visit and join them for a very good chili dinner.  Al makes a great batch of chili as long as he doesn't put too many hot peppers in it.  He likes it a little more hot than I can take, but this batch was fine.

It was a beautiful evening and the sunset was especially nice.  Gerry managed to get some nice sunset pictures.  The coyotes came out and serenaded us for a couple hours.  There must have been a large pack of them nearby and they were yapping long and loud.  We stayed and visited until 9pm and then headed back to our place, tired and with our stomach full from the chili.

It was another great day out here in the desert with temps in the high 70s and a bright sunny day.  Just before evening some clouds began to move in and provided some contrast for the pictures above.

  1. Always like desert sunsets! Being adopted by the southwest, we have come to appreciate the peppery tastes of chili and other local comestibles!
