Happy Labor Day 2012
It didn't seem like Labor Day to me today. We had the family gatherings last month, we don't work anymore and I didn't see any Labor Day parades or picnics in the area. Is it just me, or has the holiday changed a lot from years past? We always went to picnics in the park or a carnival celebration and then family dropping by to visit. I guess in this mobile world we live in today, those events are a thing of the past.
There was a trip to the Greene Turtle to have an early dinner with friends John & Diane. We met at the restaurant in Mt. Airy, MD and just barely got there on time. I-70 between Hagerstown & Frederick, MD had two delays because of accidents so we jumped off I-70 and caught US 40 to bypass the 2nd accident.
We had a nice visit with them and caught up on happenings the last few months. John and I talk on the phone a lot so there wasn't a lot new to discuss, but we managed to keep running conversations the whole dinner. It was great seeing them again.
On the way back there was another accident in the East bound lane, but we were heading West so it was good to go for us. It's hard to believe the amount of traffic on that road and what a little fender bender does to slow down traffic.
A couple summers ago Gerry spent her spare time working on stepping stones making various designs using colored glass and cement. She hasn't had a chance to get back to making them with all the time being spent on card crafting. If it didn't take so much space in the motor home, I think she would pack the supplies and equipment to start making them again. Check out the beautiful lady below with examples of her skills.
