Free Lunch & Tanque Verde Swap Meet

We were interested in going to the Tanque Verde Swap Meet to check what jewels they had there.  Judy & Steve were interested in going with us and we headed there around 1pm.

On the way it was brought up that La Mesa RV was having a free lunch for the asking.  We decided to check it out before going to the swap meet and enjoy some fine dining.  They had hot dogs and chili hot dogs, salad, drink and dessert for free.  We made it in with only 1 salesman finding us.  Steve knew the salesman and chatted with him while we picked up the lunch.

On the way out we asked the salesman if they had any new Southwind motor homes and they had two in the right length for us.  The first MH was nice and had most of the features we wanted, but it had a bath and a half and that isn't what we want.  The other MH had a terrible floor plan and we weren't at all interested in it.  By this time Steve was ready to go to the swap meet so off we went.

We drove over to the swap meet and the parking lot was full of cars and inside there were large crowds of people.  Steve and I walked around a little and found what we were looking for and made a big decision.  The picnic table held both of us and we sat there and waited for Gerry & Judy to check out the place.  They walked all over the place and luckily Gerry didn't find that much to spend money on.  Whew!  I lucked out on that place.

The swap meet is held every Friday - Sunday and there is a lot of "stuff" there.  A lot of it is junk, made in China, well used and also some great buys on other goods.  We don't have any room left in the MH so it was a no brainer for me to not buy anything.  Evidently at one time the swap meet was held on Tanque Verde st and now it is off of Palo Verde.  I guess it was too complicated to rename the place Palo Verde Swap Meet so it kept it's old name.


We left the swap meet and came back to the MH to watch the football games.  It was a good day for me with both teams I wanted to win coming out with a victory.  The New Orleans Saints vs Detroit Lions was a good game for three quarters and then it turned into a rout with the Saints winning big.  We ordered a pizza at half time and picked it up and ate it in the 2nd half.  Pizza & beer.  Great!
