Saguaro Nat'l Park East & PT

We had a lazy morning and I went for PT and managed to muddle my way through all the stretching, stepping, walking, ice down and other torture tricks they apply to my knee.  I was sore from the drive on Sunday and paid a price for it during pt.  By the time the hour was over the knee was feeling a lot better.  No pain, no gain.

Saguaro Nat'l Park East is just up the road from us so we took advantage of the nice day and drove there.  Barbara went with us on her last visit 5 years ago and enjoyed seeing all the magnificient cacti there.  It was a first for Henry and he seemed enjoy seeing them also.  The cacti weren't flowering yet and it looks like it will be the end of the month before they are in bloom.  There is a lot to see in the park and we took the 8 mile drive through at a very slow pace.  Barbara and Gerry were jumping out of the car and took some very nice photos.

 No trip to Saguaro would be complete with stopping a Javelina Picnic area.  It is a rock formation that juts out of the desert and provides a nice view of Tucson and the area.  At one time it was a haunt of Javelinas, however we haven't seen one there in the more than 20 times we have visited the park.   Barbara had her climbing shoes on and wanted to trek to the top, but we talked her out of it.  Good move on her part.

 We managed to spend more time on the ride than expected and barely had time to visit the gift shop and information center at the park.  He got there in time to buy a park pin and was happy to add it to his collection.

By this time it was time for dinner and we decided to make it an early one and went to a local grill called Montgomery's and enjoyed the sandwiches and drinks.  It was Happy Hour and Barb, Gerry and I had a Dos XX draft beer.  It was the first beer I've had in over a month and it really hit the spot.  Ahhh, fond memories.

I tried to drive straight back to the motorhome, but was outvoted by three highly dedicated Dairy Queen customers.  They had a special where the 2nd Blizzard cost $.99 and regular cost for one.  Needless to say, we drove out of there with 4 blizzards to eat back at the motorhome.  I was so full from dinner that my blizzard went into the freezer for later consumption.  The others ate theirs and were complaining about being stuffed to the gills.  It was a good move on my part.

We were all so tired that it was an early evening to hit the hay.  As a matter of fact, I was in bed before 8:30 pm and glad to be there.  The others were right behind me.
